Bangarang development now hosted by KDE

Bangarang’s development is now hosted on KDE’s git infrastructure in playground.  Many, many thanks to Ben Cooksley and David Solbach for their patient help with the migration from Gitorious.  I’m not a software developer by trade, so their help was invaluable.  The translations are now also hosted by the wonderful KDE translation team – thanks for handling the move Albert!  The new development project page is here.

Gitorious has been an absolutely wonderful host for this fun little project for the last 2 years. In that time there are many things I’ve learned and there will certainly be many things I’ll miss.  That said, I am definitely looking forward to working more closely with the KDE community.

So this is your invitation to join in on the fun.  As always, Bangarang remains a project I spend time on for no other reason than the joy of it.  Good energy in, good energy out.  Rumor has it that the KDE community has oodles of good energy!

  3. Now we have you. NO ESCAPE! MuhahahahahahahaHAHAHAHA!

PS Any hints as to the correct settings to get Bangarang to connect to an ownCloud instance in a subfolder (ie in mydomain.com/folder/ )? I found it once, but have never gotten it working again… :/

    • Nevermind. Just found the tooltip which answered my question (would be awesome if Bangarang would detect if the server url was missing /apps/media and add it. An ‘Information’ icon next to the server textbox would also help to alert people that a hint was available.)

Now it’s working, and I’m listening to streaming audio from my ownCloud instance ( \o/ ) but weirdly enough the login only works the first time and then just gives “Invalid login” until I delete the ownCloud entry and do it again. Strange, but you know what… awesome! Because now I can actually file a bug without needing login details at yet another site! WOOT!

Happy to have Bangarang at bko!

      • Oops. Spoke too soon. Bug tracker still seems to be external. Still, welcome!

      • Thanks for all your encouraging words.

Just a note to let you know that only development was moved to the KDE infrastructure. Bug reporting won’t be migrated to bko.

  4. Nice.

Any plans to move the main site to the KDE infrastructure? I guess it’s kinda irrelevant but bangrangkde.wordpress.com doesn’t look nearly as convincing as bangarang.kde.org.

    • Hmm, I honestly hadn’t thought about it. It may be something to consider, especially if anyone wants to help. :-)

    • And whattabout bugs? I find it a bit weird that reporting bugs against a KDE project requires a google account.

  5. Is Bangarang dead? No updates in half a year, no visible activity in the forums, the dot, etc…

    • Bangarang development will always happen in spurts in order to balance my work and family life with this, my hobby. I’m the sole active developer and unless others contribute, Bangarang will always be developed in this way. New contributors are always welcome! :-)

  6. It’s a free plugin which (as the name implies) backs
up your Word – Press site to your Dropbox account. Be
sure to add your newly created ‘Menu’ to your blog on the Widgets tab under Appearance, on
your dashboard. No Self Pings, not ping its own, that is not
in the list to receive comments from other articles of their own trackback.
