  1. Hi
I just downloaded Baranang but it does not work .
    I get this window
“Bangarang is unable to access the Nepomuk Semantic Desktop repository. Media library, rating and play count functions will be unavailable.”
what do I do or did wrong?
    with thanks Peter

    • Bangarang requires KDE with Nepomuk (Desktop Search) enabled and running to use Library functions like would be useful for Music, Movies and TV Shows. Nepomuk is also used to record user ratings (stars), tags, and playcounts. If Nepomuk is not enabled or you are using something other than KDE, you’ll see the window you described. You can ignore it and it’ll just function as a basic audio or video file player.

      Hope this helps!

  2. There are some people beginning to worry about the fate of Bangarang. Is it dead? Is there any activity? I don’t see much activity since the 2.0.1 release.

    • Oh no, Bangrang is very much alive. Bangarang is developed in my spare time so there will be periods of low activity as things in my life get busy (as it has this summer). As it is, I remain the sole active developer so development will ebb and flow as my time permits. This means that there are more likely to be bursts of development over time as opposed to a constant high activity. Additionally, I’m not personally a fan of development for the sake of development. I’d rather use my available time to work on useful changes.

That said, Bangarang is, and will always be, open for development so anyone who would like to see more features or fix bugs are certainly welcome and encouraged to contribute at any time.

      Hope this helps. 🙂

      • It’s just bad that you are the sole active developer, but it’s good to hear from you! I don’t know how to code and I can’t really help you, but I support you, and use your player daily. Keep up! There are lots of happy users of Bangarang out there.
