Just a little UI humor I came across to lighten our over-worked days. By the way, thanks Davide Bettio for the very helpful, tangible examples of the simple things we can do to improve our user interfaces. I know I’ve found them helpful.

Actually, if there was just a little more visual separation between the two columns it would be a fantastic physical and visual design. You know which button is up because it’s the higher one. It’s just the (minor) ambiguity of whether things are column based or row based that is posing a problem.

LOL Which way is correct? To me it looks like the up arrow is associated with the button over it and the down arrow with the bottom below it.

Tim: I admit that just an illuminated up button above a down button if better but this is for from the worst example I’ve seen. Have you tried these apartment complexes where the buzzer system is like a jukebox? I’ve once had to call the ppl I was visiting on my mobile phone to make them buzz me in bc I couldn’t figure out how to use it 😀

Even though it seems poor, I still instantly knew what to do with it. I take it you lot didn’t just intuitively know that it was layed out in columns because for me it was without thought.
